Google unveiled Google+ brand pages on November 7, 2011 to help brands connect with their consumers on a local and more personable level. Google+ allows brands to gain additional exposure in the social space. Google states “Google+ has focused on connecting people with people.” However, Google+ has been any marketer’s nightmare and with over a year passing by and no way to track your efforts, we are all still scratching our heads to provide analytics to our brands. This frustration for lack of interaction did not fall on deaf ears. Search engine giant, Google, announced they are opening the floodgates to analytics. Google hasn’t made the change officially but rumors are spreading and FAST!

Pages will soon get analytics in the “coming weeks” for demographics and social activity such as +1’s, shares, and comments. Needless to say, marketers, including me, everywhere took a big sigh of relief. We will gain much great insight to how effective our social media efforts and truly have a better direction for content types to see what’s working and what’s not working.
