Every marketing social stalker has been waiting impatiently for Instagram to transition to web profiles and now it’s finally here! After nearly two years, this pioneer platform with over 100 million users announced its new venture into this very public photo-sharing arena.

Essentially this means your Instagram photos can be seen by anyone by simply searching instagram.com/[username]. Yup, that’s right. Your Instagram photos are public! Start hitting your delete button now!

Although Instagram may have lost the intimacy it once provided to it’s loyal fan base, brands are flocking to Instagram to get a piece of the web profile pie!

Take a look at Sharpie:

With over 35,000 followers, Sharpie directs its appeal toward a younger audience with its hand-drawn images created by in an in-house community manager. With cross-promotional efforts, Sharpie hopes to expand its Instagram profile even more.

Let’s take a look at BMW:

BMW has decided to utilize Instagram’s new web pages as a “canvas” to grow their mobile users. With the new design reflecting the Facebook Timeline style, it’s no telling what features Instagram will launch next.

Take a look at General Electric:

Although GE is not looking to drive traffic to its Instagram site, they are growing in popularity among this it’s visually minded users. With over 100,000 followers, GE displays an arrangement of turbine and engine photos to represent the brand.

Instagram hasn’t fully integrated user-friendly capabilities. For instance, Instagram does not allow page owners to pick their own header images as it just pulls from when they were published, and you can’t upload a photo directly from your computer and apply the filters yet.
