We all know how important Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and LinkedIn are to increasing your Social Media presence. But let’s not forget the social powerhouse that is YouTube. YouTube is, in fact, the second largest social network with almost half a billion users. Wow, you might say, it now seems really important to get that YouTube Channel up and running. And you would indeed be correct. If you want to get ideas is as simple as stream some videos and movies using this kodi guide.

YouTube is no longer just for cute cat videos and watching people doing stupid (albeit HILARIOUS) stuff. It is about brands and online programming. So much so, that they are now starting new upfronts* for YouTube and other streaming content providers aptly named “newfronts”. (Get it? Because it’s like the upfronts, but newer!) These “newfronts” make it even more important to have an amazing YouTube Channel with even more content so that you might get in on that oh-so-sweet ad money. This is the reason that many are opting to get connected with agencies who can provide Youtube Services to grow in terms of volume.

But all of that time and energy put into your great content will go to waste if no one ever sees it. So here are some tips on optimizing your YouTube Channel.

Step one: Cut a hole in the box.  Take the boring background of your current channel and make a sweet custom background that represents your company. Set your page to load how you want when someone lands on it. Do you want them to land on your Feed or your Videos? Mess around with the settings and get it the way you want it. Then don’t forget to have a good profile picture as well. Like this:

Isn’t that pretty?

Step Two: Now that your page looks awesome make sure you have good content. This is probably the MOST important thing. Why would someone got to YouTube to watch lame stuff? They wouldn’t. Make sure everything you use is owned by you and not copyrighted. There is nothing worse than uploading an awesome video and having YouTube block it because you used “Call Me, Maybe” as your background music. If you will like to learn about how to copyright your work, here you can find a guide about how to be a good copywriter.

Your content should be around five minutes in length and no more than ten minutes. Unless of course you are actually making a web series, then just make sure it’s worth me spending more than five minutes on. The attention span is a thing of the past.

Step Three: Once your video is up make sure you optimize your video description, Meta Tags, and title. If you want people to find your video, keep everything concise and to the point. No more than three to four keywords and around 120 characters (Don’t describe it any more than can fit in a tweet) for the description. Do not make your title more than 70 characters as that is the max that Google will take into account.

Step Four: Post, Tweet, Blog, Reblog, Share, Pin, text, email, or anything else you can do to get that video in front of the eyes of the internet. If your content is good people will share it and watch it. The hardest part is getting people to see it in the first place. Use your current social presence to get your video out into the world.

Use your channel to help get the word out by subscribing to users with similar interests, comment on other videos, and humanize your brand as much as possible. The more you interact the more interaction you will get.

So get out there and start making great content for people to watch. If you already have a sweet YouTube Channel post it in the comments and we will try to get the word out!

*an upfront is a meeting hosted by television network execs and attended by advertisers. They goal is to sell the ad time to the advertisers months before the show and subsequent ratings come out at a lower price “up front”. However if the show flops, it could be a dangerous gamble for the advertisers.
